# Close an issue

Closing an issue indicates that the matter has been resolved, deemed irrelevant, or otherwise addressed.

Follow these steps to close an issue on Protocol.Land:

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: Closing an issue doesn't delete it; it simply marks the issue as closed. This allows you to revisit the issue later if needed.
{% endhint %}

1. Navigate to the Issues tab on the main page of the repository.\
   ![](/files/HsP5xgpFIBgOarA7KFAd)
2. By default, the list of open issues are displayed.
3. Click on the issue you wish to close from the list.
4. You will be redirected to the main page of the issue.
5. Click “Close” located at the bottom of the issue timeline on the main page of the issue.\
   ![](/files/bKNOgAo2uZ4n4ottZyim)
6. The status of the issue is set to closed and it is moved to the list of closed issues.
7. The issue timeline on the "Overview" tab is updated with the latest status update.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.protocol.land/working-with-issues/close-an-issue.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
